when will blue Ray dvd player be the standard for dvds?

since the dvd blue ray players are so expensive i cant see it happening really soon but i always wonder when i buy a dvd if i should just get a blue ray player and stop getting the reg ones
can you watch regular dvds on a blue ray dvd player?

I would hold off on getting a blueray player if you don't "need" one. Look how cheap DVD players are now, in a few years, blueray players will be the same. Like the previous post said, the PS3 is a great blueray player though so if you wanted to get a little more for your money I'd def go with it
